Band of Gypsies
It's about that time of year again! Coachella is right around the corner with musicians, influencers, models, and celebrities all glowing in their well chosen outfits to face the heat of the biggest festival in the U.S. This year, it sold it's 99,000 tickets in less than 3 hours ( maybe because Beyonce was the headliner! ) and will start April 14. Don't be deceived that this is a music festival, though; Coachella is known for its fashion statement and free spirited, gypsy vibes. Attendees spend weeks pre-Chella preparing their outfits for the 3 day event. Some even get more creative and change twice per day, making a grand total of 6 outfits for the weekend. It will be my first year attending Coachella, so we had to get in the mode only a couple weeks prior to the event.
We did that by driving 45 minutes north of Los Angeles to Vasquez Rocks and climbing the famous boulders known for the set of the movie The Flintstones. At sundown, we danced through the outfits and ended it right in time to watch sunset.
Although the photos may deceive you, we hiked/climbed up this mini mountain/boulder packing our 3 bags and camera all the way while bugs swarmed our faces covered in sweat.
But was it worth the shot? You tell me. Do you see red rocks and mountains in the same picture anywhere?
This next look we took down the old dirt road and caught some amazing golden hour light. And to top it off, I found the perfect outfit to go with these badass fringe boots I got 2 years ago! I knew they'd be good for something. Because what's Coachella without a little fringe?
To top off this free spirit set, we climbed to the top of one more boulder to get the winning shot. The wind happened to be blowing just right to tousle my blonde hair and the sun was slowly sinking behind the mountains.
